RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF MEMBERS
19.2 The Constitution has been written in plain English, but it may still be hard to understand for many people whose first language is not English. Therefore, we give here the most important rules that a New Member must understand, and we have simplified the language as much as we could. This will be enough for a New Member, but you must read the full Constitution as soon as you are able, because you will need to make the most of your opportunities as a Full Member.
19.1 As a New Member, you may:
post comments;
start new threads;
become a Full Member after making 50 valid* posts.
[*Note on “valid”: The Moderators may discount “posts” (what you write in a forum) that seem to have been made only to increase the number of posts, and they will discount and possibly delete any posts that break the rules].
20.1 A Full Member may:
post comments;
start new threads;
vote on issues;
vote to elect a Parliamentary Representative;
apply to become a Moderator or Administrator;
stand for election as a Representative.
20.2 If you have made 50 valid posts (and have therefore automatically become a Full Member) the act of making more posts will be interpreted to mean that you have read and understood the full text of the Constitution and agree to abide by it.
22.2 When you register for Membership, you will be asked for an email address. This will be kept secret and not used without your permission.
You will not be asked to reveal any other personal details (the following should never be revealed on this site: name, address, contact details, physical appearance, place of work).
22.3 You must not try to send an email to another Member without their permission. You can send a Private Message, which the addressee can read on site.
You are strongly advised not to tell any other Member your email address or anything personal about yourself.
22.4 You are strictly not allowed to reveal any personal detail of any other Member (as listed in Clause 22.2). Important: we do not collect personal information, so we have to assume that any forbidden details that you post about another Member are true and will ban you permanently, even if you claim to have invented them.
22.5 If you see, or think you see, any infringement of your parliamentary rights, or any case of mismanagement, malpractice or other abuse, you have a responsiblity to complain about it. (Complaints go automatically to the Moderators. Complainants’ usernames are kept secret from ordinary Members).
22.6 No one below the rank of Moderator is allowed to impose disciplinary measures.
